Book Review 4

Dear Reader,
I recently (as in 4 minutes ago) finished the wonderful action/sci; Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson! [Finishing a book always involves three loonnng hours of reading and burning eyeballs for me...its like running a marathon (but with reader's high!).] As tradition says, I shall now write a review for it, as follows below!:

"This book was one of the best actions I've read in a while, and I adore Mr. Patterson's work. I loved develing into the world of pycho scientists, betrayals, and genetic mutants! The cover was gorgeous (cootos to the designer) and the short chapters created a great arangment for a visual reader. The despcriptions were and action-scenes were nail-biting, particurly the fight scenes. But the best part just might be the charactars, they are really spoken for!
Max -- our main narrator -- was wisecraking and spirited, Iggy, despite his disability was endearing and stubborn, Gazzy was young and tough for his age, Angel was sweet and powerful, Fang; silent and protective, always ready to give his much-needed support, and Nudge was a fast-talking, spark-shooting young girl who had to cope with the disspearance of her friend, then her semi-absent leader. As a romance writer, I had hoped for a little more romance between Max and Fang, but that didn't change the greatness of the book at all!
I found the first/third person narration interesting and dynamic, displaying Patterson's versatile talent for vastly different writing styles.
Not much is left to be said for this book except: stop reading this, and go read it! Then buy the sequels!

There was my latest update and review, I hope you liked it.
This book got a: **** 4 stars!

Book Review 3

Dear Reader,
One of the sole reasons I created this blog is for book reviews...but I believe I may be addicted. =) Enjoy my book review for: Divergent by Veronica Roth!

Add caption

"Divergent by Veronica Roth is a class A thriller/dystopian. The cover caption "ONE CHOICE CAN TRANSFORM YOU" is extremely accurate, as the reader watchs our dear main charactar Tris make her choice and transform herself to the ways of her chosen faction. We watch her struggle with her new nature and her need to fit in or be eliminated. I, personally, thought Tris was a little too I-shall-throw-myself-in-the-line-of-fire-to-save-you for me, but she was fierce and strong-willed and that kind of a  charactar is admirable. The book sucked you in with a curious and confused romance between a trainee and her teacher; Four. Throughout the book we see a fearless and vunerable side of nearly every charactar Mrs. Roth creates and brings into the story-line. This book also explores the five things most civilians today grapple with; knowledge (Erudite), selflessness (Abnegation), fearlessness or elimination of corwardice (Dauntless), truthfulness (Candor), and peacefullness and harmony (Amity). These are also the things that could bring the new civilization to its knees, creating conflict and destroying what the factions work for. Mrs. Roth has a unique way of looking at the future, a view I find interesting and completely accurate, from a reader's view; Mrs. Roth seems a born dystopian writer. The exucution was spot on and crisp, the scenes were all meaningful and clear to the point with the perfect winding roads of thrills!
This was a inspriring and engaging novel, one you'll be sure to keep on the shelf for easy access for years to come!"

I hope you enjoyed this review! **** 4 stars

Book Review 2

Dear Reader,
Here's my review for the Iron Fey Book 1 by Julie Kagawa:

" The Iron King is a beautifully constructed, written, and edited read, leaving the reader scrambling for a sequel. In this book the reader will explore the Nevernever like they've never seen, meet lovable, vibrant charactars, and fall rapidly into love with a hearwarming/heart-breaking romance. [Kagawa] manages to make such a great book look effortlessly written, despite the nail-biting thrills and twists. Taking into consideration the love and depth of the plot, this is no small feat. You'll meet charactars like Puck (Robin Goodfellow, i.e. Shakespeare's A Mid-Summer's Night Dream), Ash the Winter Prince, Grimalkin the snarky Cat Sith, and Meghan Chase...our extrodinary main charactar from who's point-of-view the book is told. Ms. Kagawa's writing is as lovely and interesting as a the planet itself, but prehaps her greastest ability is the ability is the ability to create charactars the readers feel as though they know in person. I was devastated to leave the charactars behind, but found myself enjoying the act of saying: Wow, Puck would totally love that! This book is trully one of a kind, I doubt I'll ever see another as great as this. Ms Kagawa is the queen of this genre!

THIS BOOK GETS: ***** 5 stars!!

Of Music and Boys My Age

Dear Reader,
Today i have rediscovered the beauty of portable Ipods (aren't they all portable?). i rode to school via middle school bus with Three Days Grace blaring, and rode home with Hedley screaming of narrsicistic people through my earbuds. Ahh...an interesting day. But alas, we shall rewind to before the school day ended...
During last hour, we had our pep assembly: the whole school assembles, we watch a staff vs. student basketball game (that lasts 10 minutes) and we hear the cheerleaders and watch the dance team. well, my friend EG and i sat at the very top row, a lovely view. we settled in, let the guy up front speak, then stood for the Anthem (spelt right?). when we sat down, we were very squished. very squished.
I spent the rest of the assembly pressed flush should-to-shoulder, hip-to-hip, thigh-to-thigh, and calf-to-calf with a boy in my Humanties; Shawn. now, i am a interesting mix of [in this order]: skatergirl-weird-prep-shy...no, he and i didn't mix at all. we spent most of the assembly yelling at each other, while trying not to bite eachother's noses off, that's how close together we were. i don't think i like him much. but if you spent an hour+ squished up against someone, would you like them? maybe...actually, if they were good-looking. oh well.
In the words off one of my favorite authors; Julie Kagawa:
"That is all." :)

A Lonng Day+Books+Music

Dear Reader,
Whoever envented school/gym, should be shot and killed. whoever invented music/Ipods should be worshipped like a god.
I am, as a generalization, not a ver athletic person. I love to run, track, and thinkgs of that nature, put push-ups, jumping-jacks, and weights...not for me. at all. i was, however, very happy, that i escaped homework! Yay :)) I've been reading a new series: the Need series by Carrie Jones, if you want to check that out. formal review listed below:

" Need (the first book in the Need series by Carrie Jones) has been a interesting, fishtailing book of romance and heart-race. Ms. Jones creates a lovable, relatable main charactar [Zara White] who sees the world as a place to be saved and furthered, a understandable view. The new ideas presented to a reader via this book will have you chewing on it long after you've finished the book. It explores the whimsical side of the supposed pixies and the more fierce/I-shall-eat-you-alive side of the Fae. A trully consuming read."

There you have it! my first review! What do you think? Have you read the book? Did you like it? Well, the blackhole that is my writing calls to me...so long! I doubt i will resurface for a while! Tootaloo!

Odd Encounter

Dear reader,
My odd encounter of the day included singing happy birthday via phone to my 4th period (science) sub's husband.
We're almost done with class, right, and all the sudden she whips her phone out of her pocket, walks to the center of the room and tells us all to gather 'round. we go up and she tells us we're singing happy birthday to someone when he either picks up or when it goes to voice mail. she won't tell us who though! she tells us on the last ring that it's her husband and it goes to voice-mail, as we prepare to singhe calls her back and we have to restart.
We finish, (after completly screwing up the song, since after all; we didn't know the guy's name!) and she dimisses us. i really do like that she thought to do something like that for her husband, but did 30 strange, unknown kids need to be a part of it? i think not. =)
Off to my next adventure, the foriegn land of Microsoft Office to write!

Blaarrghh...House Work

Dear Reader,
After now experiencing my first (and traumatic) time doing the dishes, i'm here to tell you exactly how horrible it was.
After a rather taxing squabble with my mother, i was then forced to undertake the task of dishes with my sister. Settling that she would wash and i would rinse and place, we set to work. The first few minutes did not go well.
My sister sprayed my with scalding water, hit my in the hand with a dish (plate), and then i numbed my fingers with cold water. I also shoved my hand into a slimy, residue filled, cooking pot. =/ Don't say i didn't warn you about the horrors of dishes. and dish soap! Ack! As you can see, i'm not at all into house work or cleaning of any matter. I like to write and occastionally clean my backyard, as well as my room. (I'm sure this is all sounding very gripey of me, but i assure you, most updates will not be like this.) By the end of my trying ordeal, my hand are numb and clammy due to the dishsoap and i smell i though i've been through the washing machine due to my clumsiness with the soapy water =). I'm hoping through time that i'll become an fuctioning, if not good, dish-washer.
   You've been warned.

-Gill =)
